Little Green

This started out as a doodle I did during my Flash class at school, because these days when I'm sitting in front of those fancy-pants Wacom Cintiqs [link] that we have in the lab, I can't restrain myself from opening Photoshop and drawing. It's like having an electronic sketchbook right in front of me... who can expect me to just ignore it? In any case, I've had an inclination to draw my old OC Zelenn (maybe I've been feeling nostalgic since Brandy's Swords [link]), so I sketched Zelenn out, accompanied by her never-before-seen little fantasy-animal friend, Faraj, who is actually from the original story I gave her in high school and sort of completes the "Disney Princess" semblance I intended for her way back when. He's never made a debut on DA mainly just because I don't usually draw him with her anymore, but with no forethought at all I posed Zelenn with her hand up like something was perched on it, and so I was faced with the "Disney Princess" dilemma of either using a bird or something with just a modicum more of originality. I was able to do the sketch pretty quickly, and as I zealously began to apply the base colors, still in class, my friend beside me leaned over and said, "You're really rolling that out." I think it was with that observation that I decided I'd actually take this class doodle and finish it, so I stuck it on my jump drive and took it home, where I brought it to what you see before you.
