One Happiness

This is the final commission piece I did for *musegrl of her character Rewind, and her golden Buddha lamp!

This, to say the least, is a surprise. Not only to me and you, but also to *musegrl, because it's such a change from the direction I was going in my original upload of Rewind: [link] To be honest, I took a while finishing because too much happened and I became a little negligent with it, and by the time I came back to it, I felt like Rewind wasn't as awesomely represented as I could try to make her. The first one was just not fun enough, and having to add the lamp sitting on the floor next to her in the first one felt like an emphasis on the boredom--Rewind needed to be engaged in some way with the lamp, and she needed to be moving!

So I took it apart and put it back together again, if you will, and worked very, very hard to do something worth looking at, especially since *musegrl waited on me like an angel for a completely unacceptable length of time. So I just let Rewind dance with Buddha, showing off some real flair with the lampshade. *musegrl also mentioned in her description of Rewind that she liked to wear printed T-shirts, but unlike the first sketch, a lot of the front of her shirt was now covered by Buddha. So I gave her some subtle graphics to sport that matched up with her golden friend--two Chinese characters, which the wholly unreliable internet claimed to mean either "happiness" or "one happiness scatters a thousand sorrows," the latter likely being just a proverb someone stuck in there to trick me. But proverb or not, I thought it was very fitting for Rewind and Buddha, so she got it on her shirt, and that's also where the title comes from.
