I had the idea to do a giant sketch dump because I've been doing mostly sketches lately (personal Photoshop projects are all on hold for a certain commission ), but I realized I wanted this new character of mine to have more of an introduction than a fleeting appearance in a giant pile of random doodles, so here she is in her own pile.
Nahimana is my new Native American character for an RPG I'm helping *gazzi-the-great set up called White Man's Treasure. The sort of plot takes place in the "New World" and the English settlers have just arrived, and I'm the moderator for the tribe that tries to be peaceful with them. Nahimana is the chieftess. Oh, I know, epic fail-- I made another female character when I had the most obvious chance to create a coveted male character, but because I'm a moderator for this and here for the seriously-long term, I didn't want to inadvertently give myself an obsticle in my own character because I felt I needed a risk. But I don't suppose you're asking for excuses. She's pretty, eh? lol
Nahimana has a bit of a complicated bio so I won't post it, but in short she's the widow of the tribe's chief, and she's infertile so it's very hard for her to have babies. So she's currently in the pickle of not having an heir to chiefdom... and I've got sort of a complicated solution for that in the works; we'll see how that plays out.
I put this in Traditional Work because it's mostly traditional--I can't believe they don't have a category yet in Mixed Media for traditional and digital work.
EDIT: My mother (good old mothers, right?) was quick to point out that the headdress was a Great Plains indian thing and not an Eastern Coast indian thing, so I figured I ought to emphasize that these tribes are fictional, the cultures are fictional, and so the fashions are fictional. *flies artistic liscense flag*

Ohh! I remember some of these Gosh, Deanna, they're so awesome! I love your line work; your drawings are so loose and fluid and just great to look at I especially love the one on the bottom (love how you showed the structure of her shoulder on the foreshortened arm, as well as the face), and the one of her putting on her kick-butt headdress (I really like how you worked out the depth in her neck/collarbone/sternum/ribcage area, with the arms still fitting in just right O.o I don't know if what I just said made a lick of sense...).

You did a fantastic job on this piece. I love the headdresses in the picture and the vast range of expressions. The outfits also look great! Well done!

It can be cheap, fast and easy. The problem is, you can only pick two.
She's very pretty. It might be a fun idea to put together a little sheet of the tribe's typical fashion. Like, a little base figure with different sets of clothing on it, for when the members join.
Heck, I could even do it. If you have a certain style in mind we could talk about it on the site. You could show me some real pictures of some clothing you like and I could do a little fashion picture.
wow she's absolutely beautiful! and something about her face and eyes make her look so wise too!!! great job darling! absolutely splendid. And the texture you chose for the background really ties into her nationality and brings all of the art just that much more life! great job!
