Whoa Nellie

This is the beginning of what will probably be a long line of drawings, at the request of ~samification. This is her RPG pirate character, Nellie, whom I've opted to draw for her. ~samification made the serendipidous discovery of my gallery about a week ago-- more specifically, the discovery of my own pirate character, Brandywine, and realized that Brandy's design was uncannily similar to how she'd always pictured Nellie. She sent me a note about it and we got to talking, and I offered to draw Nellie for her, since she liked Brandy so much. ^^

So, here's my final design for Nellz. This is mostly to exemplify the costume and colors I decided on, making it the pitch for ~samification's approval. As you can see, there are numbers next to each sketch, and that's because I wanted to detail the costume idea here.

1. The Turn Around Drawings: A look at the entire outfit, front and back, and also a glimpse of how I want her to look facially, although that is still in the works.

2. The Blouse and Accessories: The blouse is a light yellow color, and cuts off at the ribcage. It wraps around the shoulders, and leaves a little shoulder bare; based on ~samification's description, the neckline is "V"-shaped, and at the point, there rests a coin. The sleeves end just before the elbow, are a little puffy, and tie at the ends (but it appears that Nellie doesn't bother with the ties). Nellie has a bracelette on the right wrist, with a purple wrap around the wrist and goes up the forearm. On her left wrist, three thin bracelettes. On both hands, she wears a gold ring around each index finger. She also has a red neckerchief around her neck.

3. The Pants and Accesories: Nellie's pants are cropped, but you can't see that, because she tucks them into her boots. There is a corset-like top to the pants, which repeats the "V"-shape down the waist, tied with three strings. On the right leg, Nellie has tied a purple sash around her thigh, along with a string of jade beads, of which the two ends hang from. On the left, a blue and a thin yellow sash are tied, arguably to hold together the broken seam down that pants' leg. The skirt I added as a sort of feminine touch, but to have Nellie's sword hang from a belt, half the belt rests on top of the skirt, and half of it is tucked underneath the skirt.

4. Head Pieces: Nellie has a green wrap around her hair, as in ~samification's description, which wraps around her forehead and beneath her hair. It's tied to the left side, which she allows to hang beside her head. I strung some coins around the wrap. Nellie wears a pair of small, hooped earrings with a dangling "teardrop" in the center of them.

5. Flat Colors: A better example of the base colors, since the turn around images are shaded.
